Thanks. As I wrote, I think it is too late to rehabilitate “retarded.” I don’t think we can take it back. But we need to learn from the cycle and not let the next word be stolen, as it is sure to be. That’s already happening, as I noted — “autistic” is now thrown around to mean stupid, for instance.
